Frequently Asked Questions

When does Melbourne Dental Clinic Open?

We open on Tuesday 15th January 2013

Do you have a long waiting list?

The waiting list is not long as we have 18 chairs open so we can see a lot of patients in a short space of time.

Does MDC accept private health insurance rebates?

Yes. Melbourne Dental Clinic has HICAPS and can accept co-payments for many dental services.

Why is Melbourne Dental Clinic more affordable than some other dentists?

Melbourne Dental Clinic offers a unique model of dental care that enables the clinic to keep overheads down so that any savings are passed onto the patient. Most appointments are carried out by a Postgraduate student dentist in training. Whilst appointment times may be longer the treatment is always overseen by a leading clinician to ensure the best outcomes.

Does MDC have all dental specialties under the one roof?

Yes. Melbourne Dental Clinic has 51 chairs and offers general and all dental specialties under the one roof (except for oral surgery). This enables comprehensive dental care, streamlined service and the best outcomes for the patient.

Does MDC have fully qualified dentists available for appointments?

Yes. Patients do have the option to be seen by a fully qualified dentist if they so wish. If this option is taken then the fees for services will generally be a bit higher than if seen by a student dentist.

Is Melbourne Dental Clinic part of The University of Melbourne?

Yes. Melbourne Dental Clinic is a wholly owned subsidiary of The University of Melbourne. Furthermore, it is an initiative of the Melbourne Dental School. This means that patients get access to the latest technology and procedures from one of the world's leading Universities.
